Can a landlord ask you to move out because you pissed them off?

They sent their 15-yr old son to discuss pet deposit and changing of air filters. I told 15-yr old I will not discuss any of the landlord/tenant relationship with a minor and that his mother, listed on the lease, needed to call me. Since that, they have been doing retaliatory things such as agreeing to accept an additional pet deposit for a cat my daughter brought home but then reneging on that and returning the pet deposit back to me and stating "get rid of cat".

  1. I would consult an attorney .... you might qualify for legal aid ....

Once they accepted the pet deposit ; they cannot regne or at least I do not think that they can ....

I hope you did NOT cash the returned pet deposit check yet ... as if you did ; that means you've agreed and accepted what it meant .... NO PETS .

IF you still ahve the returned deposit ; take it with you to the attorney .... that is your Proof that they agreed that you could have the cat .

  2. get everything in writing

  3. If you do not have a fixed term lease, the landlord can terminate your tenancy for no cause or reason and then evict you if you fail to move out.

I would not p**s off my landlord if I were a month to month tenant.

  4. if it's not in writing they can do just about anything.
