Can a landlord change a leasing agreement if we had previous arrangements with old management?

our current landlord are now making us pay back fees for utilities now, but under old management we had a set payment and didnt have to pay utilities for summer because we werent using heat, so utilities for summer were free, now they are trying to make us pay back fees from old management, can I take them to court for that???.........but its not on paper

  1. It was not a smart idea for the new landlord to surprise you with this.  It may be legal but it's going to make everyone mad.  That is not a good leasing strategy.  You have to pay them. /


  2. You do not need to take him to court.  Simply refuse to pay these fees, and if he wishes, make him take you to court.  Of course, he won't do this, as he knows he will lose.

    The new landlord is bound by the terms of the old lease.

    If the old lease has expired, and you are now on a month to month lease, expect an eviction notice though.  (If this happens, you might want to point out that will still not get him more money, in fact likely less, because a vacancy cost a landlord money.)

  3. Yes you can. There cannot be any changes made to your rental agreement until your lease is up.

  4. Do You have to sign a old management lease agreement?

    Yes so you can put the case to the court , or

    You have no any documents so you can loss your money but try to consult the advocate .
