My roommate and I were renting a home in the state of Florida and were told that the price of rent a month was a certain price. We then gave the landlord our security deposit and set up a move in date. A few days later the landlord called us and decided he wanted to change the price of rent. We then decided to opt out and not sign the lease, and the landlord is refusing to return our security deposit on a home we never lived in. Legally in Florida can the landlord keep this money? We never signed anything!

  1. Do you have any proof you gave the landlord the money.  If you do (like a check) then you can sue for it or stop payment on the check.  If you gave cash and only have you, your friend and the landlord who witnessed it then you are out of luck.
