  1. Nope. Legally, if you have already been evicted and you don't pick up your stuff, the landlord must put your stuff in a local storage facility and send you the bill. It's still your stuff, evicted or not. If you aren't evicted yet, he or she can't do anything to you yet. This is not to say that it won't happen.

After a certain period (I think a year or two), your stuff becomes the property of the state in which you live. And, after a certain number of years it can be sold off at auction and the money handed over to local government.

Here's a useful website for these kinds of issues:

  2. They can - on the date of eviction all of your stuff will be on the street.

  3. I don't think they can do anything to your things. Even though you are evicted they are required to give you  at least 30 days to pick up your things. but on your  part y are u leaving your belongings like that when u know u are evicted? Is that really a good idea on your part?

    Good Luck on this!

  4. Your things only need to be kept in storage if deemed worth more than $500 by the landlord or evicting party. That is the key, when I evict someone in my opinion their stuff is never worth more than $500 to me. Thus it gets put on the street.

  5. If you are evicted while you are away, there are different laws in different states.  In some they must be placed outside, in some they must be held for a short period of time and in some they may be disposed of immediately.

  6. This happened to a friend of mine once in NY. They put the stuff outside.

  7. If you want to lose everything go ahead and leave town! In an eviction all of your stuff is put out on the curb for you to recover. It's basically up for grabs to whoever shows up first. If you want to keep your stuff, get a storage unit at a self-storage warehouse and put it all there,,,,,,and be sure to pay the rent!

  8. Mostly likely YES (they may dispose of your stuff and get the apartment ready for another..hopefully paying tenant)..try.paying your rent and then your stuff can stay in the house while you are away!!
