Can a laptop be used as a wireless router for a Sony PS3? If so, what are the instructions to make it happen?

I have a laptop and will soon get a Sony PS3...I would like to know for future references can my laptop be used as a wireless router for my Sony PS3?

  1. No, a laptop can't be used as a router because laptops have built in wireles receivers, not transmitters.  To be a router, the device must have a transmitter so it could transmit your wired 10/100 ethernet input to your PS3 wifi receiver.  You should just go with a wired connection and hook up your ethernet cable to the PS3.  If you want wireless, I'm afraid you need to buy a wireless router.  


  2. If you want to hook your PS3 to your laptop thats not possible, but to the wireless router yes.  If you have a 2wire or something like that look under it and you will see a 10 digit wep code.  Scan your ps3 for it and input the tens digit number,
