Can a librarian help me with this?

Is it better manners to use a card catalog hile stamding there and going thru it or should I take out the whole box and use it on the table tikkIm finished? Thanks!

I agree with Malika.  Take the drawers out and put them back when you're done.

If there aren't a lot of people around, you could probably use it right at the card catalog.  Otherwise, I suggest you take out and use it at a table where you have more room.  If you aren't sure where it goes back, leave it on the table for a trained staff member to put it back into place.

Look through the card catalog while standing there unless you are in someone else's way.  Then you can take it to a table, look for what you want, and quickly return it.

Wow! Are there still card catalogs around?

Anyway, it would probably be easier on you and those around you if you took the drawer to table to look through the cards.  Then, after you have written the call nos. down, put the drawer back in its proper place.
