Can a long hair and short hair dachshund be a pure breed dog?

my neighbor showed me 2 puppies she claims she paid 500 for both of them one is a short hair the other is a long hair i didnt think it would be a pure breed the parents for a pure should be the same yes or am i wrong they are brother and sister

  1. They may be purebred (not pure breed).  But, they are badly bred dogs.  


  2. yes this can happen it deals with recessive traits (my aunt breeds dachshunds). i do know the dogs would be both purebred dachshunds but i'm not sure if they would be pure breed coat types if their parents were of different coat types.

  3. it doesnt matter the coat type..  both are still dachshunds.

  4. As long as they have papers from a LEGIT KC they are purebred. Long and short hairs can be from the same litter.  

  5. yes the are both pure bred i just bought a mini doxie, and in one litter there can be short hair and long hair.  just depends if those traits run in there genes.  

  6. idk if they can be in the same litter but they can be both
