Can a mac laptop get a virus?

i have a mac and it doesnt have a virus but i was just wondering if it can get one...and if it can get one how do i take it out

Yes they actually can, it is just very hard because you have to approve every action your computer does, and a few companies make anti virus software for the mac, but just as it is with a PC, once you are infected - there is no way to be sure you are clean, and the only true way to know is to format and reinstall the OS
