  1. Yes, a Macbook (or any modern laptop for that matter) will definitely be able to connect to your Linksys router. Macintosh doesn't only need to work with an Airport, it can work with any wireless network.

    Hope this helps!

  2. Absolutely, as long as you remember the password to get on the network. :P Pretty much all wireless routers, be they Apple (AirPort), Linksys, D-Link, or other brands, use the exact same 802.11 standards, so the difference between them mostly lies in how easy they are to set up and configure. Macs support the different kinds of security schemes (like WEP, WPA, etc.) used on wireless networks just as well as anything else — heck, even my PSP does nowadays. Aside from making sure the router is positioned somewhere that'll give you good reception in the places you plan to use your MacBook, I don't see any wi-fi issues coming your way. Enjoy!

  3. I'm using this MacBook and a Linksys wrt54g, using WEP ,so no worries!!!! if you will face any probs in the future ,just shoot me how to troubleshoot it,you are welcome always, good luck with your new Mac!!!

  4. Yes. I use the same setup.

b.t.w. Were you aware that you can run open source firmware on the WRT54G? Check out a free firmware called ""dd-wrt" which is probably the most popular and includes the ability to configure the router's transmitter power to boost range.
