He wouldnt notice it if I put it inside the mailbox (he would just think I left yesterdays mail in it) Should I tape it on the front or leave a note?

  1. A postman definitely CAN take outgoing mail.  That is why the mailboxes that sit in front of privately-owned home have a flag on their mailbox.  When the flag is up the postman is to stop and take outgoing mail from the box.

Also, in an apartment or condominium complex there has always been, in my experience, a separate box for outgoing mail, although I have had to look for it a few times.

  2. Yes, if authorised to do that. Be greatful I answered this.

  3. Given the chance for mail theft, I'd drop it in a collection box.  Thieves nowadays look for bills so they can get the checks and doctor them to cash for themselves.

  4. they dont have an "outgoing" mailbox? thats strange. I recommend taking it with you and dropping it in a post office drop box
