  1. It depends whether you betta is aggressive or not. Bettas are usually solitary fish. Two male bettas will probably fight, after all they are called Japanese Fighting Fish.

Also, male bettas will show aggression to any fish that is smaller than them.

If you put a male with a female, the male would probably build a bubble nest and they would mate. And 500 newborn betta fry to care for is a huge pain in the you-know-what. :)

I would recommend either putting a betta with a larger fish than itself, or just keeping it alone, maybe with a couple of snails. :)

  2. WOAH WOAH WOAH!!! a single betta requires a 5 gallon tank with heater set to 80*F and a filter to be happy!! in order to have tankmates e should have atleast a 10gallon tank withb filter and heater. upgrade your tank, THEN think of tnakmates.

  3. i don't think so but i would call your local pet store to be sure

  4. NO.

Male bettas are EXTREMELY territorial and will fight to the death.

1 gallon is a small tank and only one fish should be kept in it. I used to have my female betta in a 1 gallon and recently put her in a 5 gallon. She is so much happier.

  5. Absolutely not.  You can barely fit 1 betta in a 1 gallon tank, let alone 2!  Besides, they aren't called fighting fish for nothing!  They are territorial and will defend their territory against other bettas aggressively.  Even bettas of the opposite s*x unless they are conditioned for breeding carefully.  There is no other fish you can put with a betta in a 1 gallon tank.  You really shouldn't even be keeping your betta in a container that small.  How do you have room for the filter and heater?  They're tropical fish and need a temperature of 76-80 degrees F to be comfortable.

  6. A one gallon tank is not a suitable home for any fish.  One betta requires a 5 gallon heated filtered tank.

  7. Absolutely not!

Male bettas will fight with other males and they should NEVER, no matter what anyone else tells you, should they ever be housed with a female betta unless its in a 10 gallon tank and you are breeding them under intense supervision and you know what you are doing.

A male betta in a one gallon bowl cannot have any tankmates since, if you are following the one inch per gallon rule, the bowl is already too small for just the betta.

If you get a 5 gallon tank for your betta, he could have a snail or a pair of ghost shrimp as a companions. Otherwise I would say no tankmates.

In a 10 gallon tank, a male betta could be kept with other peaceful community fish like White Cloud Mountain Minnows, Zebra Danios, or sometimes Neon Tetras. No Barbs or other Tetras since they are fin nippers and will rip up your betta.

Please be sure to keep your betta warm, feed it good food, and change its water twice per week if you are gonna have it in a one gallon bowl.

  8. well probably.but then if you added a girl they would fight over her. trust me!

one time i had a Betta and i added a mirror to the tank and (it was a boy) he would be swimming around and then he would straighten up when h saw himself! lol

    good luck

  9. are you crazy of couse not a female beta can live with another female but that's it however a male betta can live with tetras but not in a 1 gallon oh and you realize only one fish can live in a 1 gallon

  10. NONE.

You're tank is way TOO SMALL!

That's the very minimum for one betta, you can never add more fish....

Don't go cheap and buy a 10-20 gallon with heater/filter. Then you can mix many many fish.

  11. NOOOOO!

a one gallon tank is fine for ONE betta,

but if you want to get tank mates, get a 10 gallon one, at least,

    they are very territorial

don't worry if he is by himself,

    he won't get lonely,

worst case is that he gets depressed, if he does,

put a mirror in front of him and he will flare,

and if you want to get tankmates,

there arent many you could choose from,

it depends on the betta's temperament

i have heard of male bettas living with other bettas,

    but that is too risky,

    dont get too aggressive fish,

they would nip your betta's fins

dont get too colorful and long finned fish ex. guppies

    the betta would attack it

some bettas could live with goldfish but DONT!

bettas need warm water! and goldfish needs cold!

i might think about plecos and bottomfeeders

    hope that helps :)

  12. no cuz your tank is just way to small if you want more fish get at least a 10 gallon tank

    good luck
