  2. It depends upon how the corporation is structured. Men (generically as in mankind) are led from the front. If the leader wades into a situation and asks that people follow they will whole heatedly. If people are shoved from behind or above they will hold back or even resist. For that reason... front line management, production staff, and technical support needs to be in a flat hierarchical structure. If for corporate reasons the hierarchical structure must be vertical then the manager should not be the leader. This... from a lifetime of observation... not a text book.
