Can a married man with a felony conviction (drug/assault) in another state still adopt a child in Texas?

Conviction was more than 5 years ago. Probation ended 2 years ago.

  1. I'd say that the adoption agency place will do back ground checks on them, and its possible to could stop him or her from being an adoptive parent.. don't know ask questions and be straight forward and honest about it.. cause they will do a back ground check..


  2. Unlikely. The people involved in the adoption process generally view felony convictions as no brainers. Can't say I blame them.

  3. Likely not because a Federal background check would apply to such a matter. However if the child is related to you and with good conduct maybe you would qualify for legal guardian.

  4. Nope... They will definitely fail with a drug and assault charge.
