Can a mass resume mailing to find employment be successful?

I'm going to be a 3rd year law student and I want to secure a job for post-graduation. I currently have 130 names in a spread sheet that I intend to use for the mass mailing of my resume and cover letter. The cover letters are somewhat customized (from the different info in the spreadsheet) - but you think anyone will bite? Any tips to increase my chances of success?

It's possible that you will get a response, however in my experience if they are not looking to fill an entry level position at the time the resume goes in the circular file.  You really need to include something specific about the particular firm and why you would be an asset to them.

My personal feeling, in this competitive job market is to personalize each of the resumes and cover letters to the individuals you have on your list.  It is imperative to make your resume jump out at the HR person otherwise you will just be one of the many applicants.    Good Luck and Congratulations on your future graduation.
