  1. If they feel you are in danger of hurting yourself or someone else they can put you in a mental institution.  To do that they would have to have a belief (and that be confirmed by a social worker/psyc consult) that you cut yourself on purpose with the intent to harm.

  2. Please tell your parents about your cutting and get help right away.  Have your cuts checked to make sure there is no infection or to avoid bad scarring.

  3. Yes, the hospital will have you talk to a mental health professional and they CAN admit you for cutting.

  4. If it is determined that you could be of harm to yourself or someone else and you are admitted involuntarily, it will only be for 3 days. Why not do the smart thing and admit yourself. Aren't you  worn out carrying this burden all by yourself. I'm not a cutter but I did try to commit suicide and then voluntarily signed myself in to a mental health facility. Surprisingly it was the safest I had felt in a long time. It temporarily physically removed me from my messed up life, from making decisions, being   responsible and trying to keep up the pretense everything was fine. I was surrounded by people who had problems just like mine, I had professionals to help me deal with my problems and I only had to concentrate on making myself well. It's really a rare opportunity to be totally concentrated on just yourself.
