  1. Yes, your credit card will work in the US, but it is a really bad idea to withdraw money on a credit card as they charge a lot of interest, and they charge it from the day you withdraw it, not from when you get your bill. Your Interac/debit card will also work in the US, however.

  2. Use your bank card to take money out of your bank account.  In most cases, debit will not work at merchants, so for those transactions you will have to use cash or your credit card.

  3. Yes, you can withdraw money from an American ATM using your Canadian credit card.  You will get the funds in U.S. money and when you get your credit card statement it will have been converted to a balance owing in Canadian funds (which should be very similar as exchange is almost even right now).  You will however pay a service fee, usually $2.00 or $3.00, over and above your own bank fees each time you withdraw money from the ATM off your credit card.  If you use your debit card (instead of credit card) in the ATM, the money comes directly out of your account and the service fee is little, if any.

You can also use your Canadian credit card at stores/restaurants, etc., for purchases.  As an above poster noted, however, your debit card may only be accepted at larger retailers.

  4. Yes.
