Question:

Can a new panel/lacing panel/flap be made for a corset dress?

I recently picked up a bridesmaid dress. They measured me 6 weeks after I had my baby and -told me how much weight I would lose- and ordered that size accordingly. 5 months later, I have lost ALL my baby weight, but the dress is WAY too tight. It is a 2 piece corset dress, and the snaps on the panel do not even snap that's how tight it is. If I could get a wider pane, even just for 2 of the snaps, it would fit. Is it possible to have another one made?

  1. Your best bet is to order some more of the fabric from the bridal shop and take it to a good dressmaker who is well versed in bridal sewing.  She will be able to advise you about whether or not it is possible to alter this garment, or whether you need to have a new top made.

It might be a good idea to take the dress along first, after finding out if it's possible to order more fabric, and she will tell you what is and isn't doable, and how much fabric you will need.
