Will a noise bridge produce noise in the headphones of a $1.00 FM broadcast radio, when it is out of null?

  1. I guess the answer is yes.

    Noise bridges are used to determine the characteristics of the antenna. There is no reason they can not be used on the FM broadcast band although for a receiver, the requirements are relaxed (compared to a transmitter).

    The bridge works by using a receiver as a detector to measure how far out the bridge is from balance (with the antenna as load). The bridge uses a noise source to drive the bridge. More noise = less balance.


  2. Yes it can be used in FM.  No it will not break the squelch or mute.
