  1. This is what the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs has to say  on the subject:

The number for the Irish Embassy in London is also there is s/he wants to ring & confirm with them.

If they need a visa to come to the Republic, encourage them to get one, either that or you should go to Belfast to meet them.

If your friend was caught & had to return to the UK, I don't think customs in the UK would take it particularly well if there was a stamp on your friend's passport to say s/he had tried to enter the Republic of Ireland illegally.

  2. yes of course coz ireland and uk have a common travel agreement

  3. There are no border controls between the north and south anymore not on the road or trains.Any tom d**k or harry can walk across the border as many times as they like and never be asked for id or anything

  4. Their best bet would be to fly into Belfast and then get the train or bus to Dublin. Belfast is in the UK so there is no problem there, and then there are no border controls between Northern Ireland and the south.

    Problem solved!!

  5. There are no permanent border controls, although I remember a foreign national being put off the Belfast-Dublin Enterprise train for not being able to provide a visa. If you travel by road, you will be fine.

  6. yes they can.

i have travelled from ireland to northern ireland many times with non-eu friends without a problem.there are no blocks or police at the borders.
