Can a non eu citizen apply for a eu passport?

south-african married to Italain citizen, and I want to work for Ryan Air/Qatar airways.

I need a eu passport to qualify... is that possible for me to apply...

If your husband is an Italian citizen yes you can apply for an Italian passport. But this whole possess takes in the Eu 5 years now.

But to work in the EU, because you are married, to an Italian..you can get a residential status..with your EU-Visa. With your Eu Visa

No. You need to qualify for citizenship to be able to apply unless you're after a Titre de Voyage (or Certificate of Identity whatever the equivelent in Europe) which will not state a nationality but will require you to have permanent residence in an EU country to be able to.

I would suggest that you go with your husband and live in Italy for 6 months. After that you can apply for naturalization and you can get an Italian passport. However, if you've been married for three years overseas you may be able to aquire naturalization. Either way you need the naturalization certificate to be able to apply for a Italian passport.
