Can a non-executive director of a company provide contract services to the company?

I.e. if you are a non-executive director serving on the board of a company, can you provide legal advice to the company and get paid an extra fee? I am not sure since a non-executive director is not an employee of the company.

Is this against any rules or code of conduct or the corporations act?

  1. Not a problem to do this, so long as it is properly disclosed. No prohibition against it
