Can a non-national apply for irish citizenship after buying a property in Ireland?!?

I am a non-eu citizen maried to an eu citizen with irish born child residind in the state for 3 years now.My wife is not irish

  1. No, best way to go is to apply for citizenship in your wife's country, then you can stay as long as you want and will never need Irish citizenship.(Unless you want to vote!)


  2. The answer is no, not easily. Last year the citizenship regulations changed and became a lot harder. Having an Irish born child will help but wont guarantee anything. The process is now likely to take years and possibly be expensive. Ownership of land means little or nothing, I believe. The best thing to do is contact the Irish Home Office and ask about starting proceedings. If you have a specialisation that is lacking in the country that also helps.

  3. I hope for your sake that you can if you have already bought the house. They let anyone in don't they?
