the order is for 500mg of Ancef and 1g is available. reconstitute with 2.5ml normal saline to yield 2ml worth a concentration of330mg/ml. what should i give? please show me how u gor ur answer! i have no idea how to do this!!

  1. I might be missing something here, but here's how I look at the problem.

    You have 1000mg (1 Gm) of ancef that you reconstitute with 2.5 ml of saline.

    This gives you a concentration of 1000mmg/2.5 cc which is = 400 mg/ cc.

    If you need 500mg dose, this is 500/400 = 1.25 cc injection.

    I am not sure where you got the 2ml = 330 mg/ml. I am assuming the ancef is in its dry, crystalline form.
