Nurse practitioners are able to prescribe certain drugs, including some anti-biotics.  They are also able to set up consultations.

Yes, a Nurse Practitioner can diagnose and prescribe medications (including antibiotics).  NP's work under a protocol designed by a physician, but the physician doesn't need to see you during your visit.  Hope this helps.
