Can a package that was to be delivered be put in your mailbox? by the usps?

because, i have a package which says delivered. I havent checked my mailbox yet but the time it was delivered is 1:30, and trust me, in the 10 years ive been living where i do, the mail man has never come before 3

The UPS man may have come at 1:30
