I'm writing a report on "disowning".

So, I want to know if a parent can disown their new born baby, but also leave it in another adult's care.

  1. give it to angelina jolie

  2. Many hospitals have "Safe Haven" programs.  Under the terms of this program, a mother can leave an unabused infant under 28 days old with a nurse in the emergency room and walk away, no questions asked.  Child and Family Services will be called to take custody of the baby and place it in foster care.

  3. Well, you can drop a newborn (under 7 days) off at any hospital anonymously and the nurses will take it, no questions asked. The child goes up for adoption.

If you want someone you know to take custody of the child they have to go through the process to legally adopt the child.

  4. Personally, I could NEVER!

  5. you can legally leave a baby in a hospital or at a firestation and no one will ask any questions. they passed that law to keep people from dropping babies in dumpsters. i'm not sure about just giving it to another adult. i think that "abandonment" can come into play if someone leaves a child and they can possibly be looking at jail.

  6. A parent can go to court and sign away all parental rights - but is responsible for making sure the child has adequate care and also will be required to pay child support even if parental rights are signed away.  What you cannot sign away is responsibility.

  7. You can drop off a baby at any hospital or police department and they have a no questions asked policy. This was put into place to hopefully eliminate the babies being thrown in dumpsters or just being left any where for dead.

As for leaving in another adults care, that adult would have to go through the adoption process to be able to do anything legally with the baby like get insurance, medical attention, etc.

  8. There are all kinds of drop off places for parents who want to safely drop off their baby. This helps because sadly some mom's have thrown their babies away and the baby died.

I am pretty sure in most states you can drop off your baby at any hospital no questions asked.

  9. I think it is a matter of not bonding, this happens a lot when the mother is suffering from depression.  Also, sometimes mom's kill their babies ( I know it's awful, but it happens!) So I would say yes.
