Can a passage have dialogue in it?

I'm copying down passages out of a novel for my literature project. The passages must describe the main characters. Can i include dialogue in the passages?

  3. If you are describing a character you can quote what they say to prove your point, but not the whole conversation.

    You can use sentences like :'When  Juliet tells Romeo "It was the nightingale , and not the lark" she is deceiving herself, and trying to keep him longer by her side'.

    You can also say: ' In their discussion about their plans,  Lady Macbeth answers "Leave everything to me" when her husband expresses his desire to discuss the matter further, which proves that she is the moving spirit behind the assassination'

  4. Yes, dialogue can be included in passages.  It can be particularly useful to exemplify how a certain character is portrayed.  You just need to include quotation marks whenever there is dialoque or if you are quoting someone.
