  1. yup.

  2. Yes a pawn is small but it can still capture the  king.

It would need another piece to give it safety because king can't move into check and without another peice protecting the pawn the king would take it.

I had other peice surrond the king and then had a pawn do the finishing touchs to the game.

  3. Yes.

  4. yes, of course

  5. You have to corner the king.

  6. If by "eat" you mean "capture", then the answer is no.  A King can never be captured in chess, because checkmate ends the game one move before the losing King is actually captured.

A pawn can, however, be the piece that delivers checkmate.  Probably the most famous example of a pawn giving checkmate is Paul Morphy's only known problem.  Click on the link below to see the position.  White mates in two.  The solution is 1. Ra6, b:a6  2. b6-b7 checkmate.

  7. Yes, in some games, a simple pawn can every once and a while take a little nibble out of the all-powerful king. However, this phenomenon only occurs with the Standard English rules.  In all other rules, the pawn has no teeth.

  8. No!

this situation should never happen in chess because

    a) the king could not of stepped onto the square or else it will be in check and

b)the king should of moved out of check.

if this situation happens, try to retrace your steps so that that doesn't happen...

    otherwise it shouldn't happen!

  9. no the pawn cant eat the king but if capture u can

  10. technically, you can never "eat" a king. any piece can never "eat" a king for a side without a king always ends  the match.  So a king can only be checked, checkmated or stalemated but never "eaten".

  11. No, you can only check, stalemate, or give your opponent checkmate with a pawn. The objective of chess is to trap your opponent's king piece before they do, not to capture or "eat" it.

  12. Yes, if protected by another piece on the board.

  13. No way.  Cause a king would take it before the pawn could.

  14. Nothing eats the king. If the king is threatened and cannot escape. That is checkmate and the game is over.

The pawn can only move one space diagonally. The king can move one space in any direction. To escape the king only has to move one space forward or sideways. But if the only moves a king can make is into check from another piece that is checkmate and game is over.

  15. they do not eat

  16. nothing "eats" the king per se, but a pawn can put or hold a king in check or checkmate

  18. yes, the pawn will become fatter

  19. No, if it is in the same colour, but if it is in the different colours, you can.

  20. Hi,

If a pawn is facing a king dianonally, the king is in check.  If the king or another piece cannot capture the pawn then it is checkmate.  You may like to visit my web page - link below?  You can also PRINT out a copy of any orthodox chess set and board in the world - FREE!

  21. Yes, the pawn can "eat" the king in chess, he can threaten any piece diagonal from him one space in the direction he's moving.

  22. no

  23. No, a pawn cannot eat a king because the pawn is so much smaller than the king.  It would take several pawns to be able to gobble up that king.
