Can a person be fined if a party is held at their appt. (that they werent present or aware of)?

And at the party are of age people and minors

  1. Yes, you can because the social function was at the owners appartment, if you want you can file a lawsuit against the party thrower for not asking permission, and the minors at the party should not of been drinking because that could very easily become your problem also.


  2. It's your apartment.

    You are presumed to be in control of it.

    You are held responsible for what happens there.

If you are an adult, and the person having the party is not an adult and that person has a legal right to be in your apartment (such as your child, or roommate), you can be held legally responsible for what happened at the party. You would not be completely culpable for the actions of the other person, but you could still be charged many things such as contributing to the delinquency of a minor. You really need to put more information into your question such as the age of the person having the party and how they had access to the apartment.

  4. Fined for what and by who?

    Common sense would say that if it's your apartment you are responsible for it and the happenings there.  It would be hard to say there was a party there that you were unaware of.
