  1. Lightning will strike anything that stands high above the ground. Trees are a favourite target

if lightning strikes something close to where you are standing it can jump from that to you.

  2. No.  It will strike the porch rather than you.

  3. You can be struck anywhere, even while in your house.

  4. yep

  5. Obviously....

  6. yes

  7. possible, but unlikely. lightening would mostly go either to the highest point, or towards a conductor, like metal.

  8. Absolutely!

You can be struck indoors - many are struck while washing dishes at a sink nbeneath a window.

I am a lightning strike survivor. I was ironing - and it wasn't even raining - when lightning hit my house and blew out everything electricial (AC, hot tub, computers) except the iron I was using. It knocked me out, left me shaken up for days, and I've had a constant ringing in my ears (tinnitus) ever since.

Both my grandmother (indoors by the radio) and my brother (in the woods) were also lightning strike survivors.

  9. Yea you can be struck anywhere it might not be as likely, but it could come right through the roof. It's completely random, that's how nature is.

  10. It has.

  11. yes you can because lightning is plasma which is very hot so it would just melt trough the roof.

  12. Everythings possible...but...it's probably pretty rare. I wouldnt worry about it.

  13. Depending on how the roof of the house directs a strike, a porch could be a prime target or a low risk.

Near here a man drove his car into a carport and was afraid to get out. Lightning struck the big tree beside the carport. The man was not electrocuted. The tree fell on him.

It does not matter whether the lightning strikes you or something that falls on you.

  14. Yes you can.

  15. Yes, even inside  your house....
