  1. Yea, all you should be practicing is hammer-ons and pull-offs. Also, work on sliding up from one note to another, this will help you play three notes per string to help it sound full. Ex..

    E ----- 4h5/7---5h7/9---7h9/10   and exercises like that

  2. You can play "solo guitar" with one finger if you wanted to. Should you?

    No!

Unless you are missing the other two fingers there is no reason you should ever learn to only use 2 fingers (even then get a lefty guitar if you are right handed or vise versa...). Use all four, yeah it's kinda tough to get your pinky to cooperate but you will be so much better off. If there is one thing I tell everyone learning to play is use all your fingers, even the thumb can be used for complex chords.

  3. I busted my middle finger and had to play with 3 fingers. It was so confusing since my natural ability was to play with all four.

When I improvised, I often forget about the damaged finger and used it often. The pain was unbearable.

Django played with two fingers and could do arpeggios better than a person with all his finger. All his relatives play awesom egitar , even the 8year old.

  4. Anything is possible if the person is willing to accomplish that which is above the usual requirements. I've heard of guitar playing with the toes.

Nevertheless, if you are handicapped as you described, or know of someone in this situation, learning to play guitar, even some soloing, is possible through strong will and determination to excel. It certainly won't be as easy if they had more digits, but it would be possible to attain a certain level of expertise.

Django Reinhardt had burned two of his fingers on his left hand early in childhood, yet he has been viewed as a master gypsy guitarist--so much that the late, great Chet Atkins looked to him as a mentor.

  5. assuming you have a thumb, yes. if not, no.

  6. Yes one of the greatest jazz guitarists ever only had two fingers. He lost his ring and pinkie fingers in a fire. Django Reinhart he is amazing. I would check him out if i were you. He has a distinct style but his handicap never held him back. Dont be surprised by how old his music is though. He lived in the early 20th century.

  7. Probably if you really wanted to

  8. Probably. Explore your options and do your best. Ive seen a 2 legged dog walk on its hind legs like a person. Ive seen a guy ride a bike with his legs gone below the knee.

  9. They probably could, you know, but would they actually want to? Uhh
