  1. I am 53 years old and have a bachelor's degree from probably the third most prestigious public college in Minnesota.  I wish I had a master's degree. When I graduated a bachelor's degree was still all it took. Not any more. What I am saying is, get at least a bachelor's degree and more if you can.

  2. from bottom rung to one rung up

    Thats about it

  3. If you marry the bosses daughter. <}:-})

  4. In todays job market, it has been shown that it is more commonly seen that... It is not WHAT you know, but WHO you know. This meaning that the way to move up has shifted from the old way of the 50's through 80's of "working hard and getting promoted" to the nowadays of "networking and making connections".

That being said, it is not always clear-cut. It is good to have a balance of education and people skills. And dont ever stop learning. Once you get your a.a.s., awesome, but then at least enroll in a few credits a semester at a 4 year college... a lot of your a.a.s. credits will transfer over and your on your way to continious education.

I have personally seen people with associates degrees get promoted to positions instead of people with B.S. degrees simply because of over-confidence and lack of interviewing skills on the part of the one who thinks that the B.S. degree is an automatic ticket to move up.

  5. Yes.

Even better - without any education. If you are smart and apply yourself, with luck and the ability you can do anything.

Bottom line is 'It's who you know, not what you know'.

At end of day, education is a personal choice, and if this is what you want to truly do, then go for it. You might want to trade off and take a lesser degree from a better/higher ranking University, as opposed to longer degree from poorer Uni.

  6. Yes, but...  When you think you're ready to move up and they give the job to a new hire with a college degree, you;'ll find out.

If you're serious about moving up to an executive position, you better think about going for the BA or BS,

    Look in the

Sunday business section of your local newspaper and look at the business promotion column. Unless it is a small, family owned business, just about all those named have a 4 year degree, or more..
