  1. Which country are you an international student in?

Laws surrounding employment do vary from country to country, so without this bit of vital information, we are unable to answer your question.

    Edit:

U.S. laws regarding employment for international students very strict. An international student is only permitted to work 20 hours per week and all employment must be carried out on-campus.

Off-campus employment, paid or unpaid is strictly prohibited, except in cases of extreme financial hardship due to unforeseen economic circumstances or if this employment is apart of the student's school curriculum. The student may also apply for OPT, which is valid for 12 months and is nonrenewable for the remainder of their studies, the employment also must be related to the field of their degree or future degree.

Beyond the above, off-campus employment is a illegal in any other circumstances, whether one receives direct payment or financial bonuses. You can sponsor the student by all means i.e. help with tuition payments or provide them with room and board, but it would be illegal for them to work for sponsorship, when they are not authorized by the USCIS for employment.

Furthermore, not only would the student breach their F1 status, you would also be breaking the law by employing a person who does not have the legal authorization to do so.
