Can a person rent a house or apt if they have no credit report?

Im 18 and going to a Community College in Pittsburgh and have to move into the city to go to school and i dont have any records for credit

  1. It all depends on the landlord.  You might have to have a co-signer for the lease-in case you fail to pay rent and/or destroy the place.  Start checking the rental ads in that area and start making phone calls.  You may need to find a roommate.

When I was 18 it was impossible to find an apartment with no credit or rental history.  You pretty much need a cosigner no matter where you go.  The only reason I ever got an apartment in my name only was because I paid an entire year in advance!  My best advice to you, is find a house, duplex, condo....that is not owned by a rental company but an individual.  They are more likely to take their chances with you if you meet them and prove to them you are qualified regardless of your credit.  Stay away from large rental companies not only will they not rent to you, if they do they suck you for every penny you're worth.  Good luck!
