Can a person take an end of the year tax deduction if they allow their home to be used by a non-profit charitable

organization?

  1. I will answer this as a UK question, which is where it's posted, but it looks as if it's written in American, in which case I don't know.

    In the UK - no.  If it's a registered charity and you're paying the electricity etc for them you could change the arrangement so that they pay the bills and you give them 80% of the cast as cash under Gift Aid.  They would be no worse off and you would in effect have a tax deduction.  But there is no deduction for simply giving them rent-free accommodation.
