  1. the engine itself doesnt need anything done to it, but the fuel system needs some modification. you need a tank that has a heating element in it, as well as added filters to clean the oil. you also need to start the engine and shut the engine down on diesel.

  2. Yes but the oil needs to be filtered to remove all pieces of material or it will stop up your injectors.

  3. I also saw a guy who was collecting vegetable oil and running his deisel on a 20% blend of oil and deisel fuel without any modifications.

  4. No! Don't try using left over oil in your regular engine. It'll destroy it. You need a special engine modification to use coking oil for gas.

  5. first don't eat at that restaurant, canola (rape seed oil) is great for fuel and lubricants, but you should never eat it.

to use it as fuel it needs to be chemically cleaned and filtered.

if you do it right your engine should last longer

  6. here are some sources of information

as i understand it the simple answer is yes (after filtering) if you live in a warm climate like ours (desert) for cold climates there are some other things to be added to the process

or you process the reclaimed oil yourself and create biodiesel

either way a VERY good idea

  7. "Will any diesel vehicle run on veggie oil?

Yes, if you make all the modifications needed. There are a handful of companies that supply kits or already converted vehicles."

  8. Yes you can, you need to be able to filter it and heat it to over 200 degrees to be able to flow thought your fuel lines and through the injectors. you can do this with a heated tank. Also you have to start on regular diesel and shut down on it. because if the oil cools it will gum up your fuel lines and your motor. So really to do this successfully you need a conversion kit. Basically a heated tank and separate fuel lines. People have done it themselves but I would use www.greasecar.com we have 3, 5.9L Cummins diesel using SVO ( Straight Vegetable Oil) on our farm and we got the kit from there. Its a great way to cut the cost of fuel and if you can do I would so go for it. Hope this was helpful,

  9. Except for Duramax and Newer Powerstrokes. They need hardware to fool optical fuel sensor.Never run over 20% without heat.
