  1. It is general misconception that people run or exercise only to lose weight.

You need to exercise like running to gain weight, if you eat and you get weight with out exercise, it will be fat and is not good.

You should get weight by increase in muscle and bone weight, which is possible by running and other exercises.

The difference between losing weight and gaining weight- is mainly intake of your diet

-to loose you eat less calories than you burn to reduce body fat

    - to gain it is other wise and you eat diet of high protein and moderate amount of fat and carbohydrates.

  2. u can, but no more than 30 minutes and 2-3 times a week. Also eat/drink some carbs immediately after running

  3. first answer is good - but one more thing make sure you aren't running first thing in the morning when you will cut into your stored [fat] energy sooner (having only a small amount of unstored [food] energy from the previous day). so maybe sometime mid-afternoon a couple of hours after a carby lunch? (carbs give you plenty of energy) make sure you wait an adequate amount of time, though, otherwise you might get a stitch running too soon after a meal. generally, the larger the meal, the longer you have to wait. or maybe even first thing in the morning, if you want to run, grab a banana and some high in energy nuts (smaller foods will obviously digest a bit quicker and not take up so much room in your stomach) =]
