  1. Why don't you consider taking your glasses off prior to getting in a cockpit to fly the plane.

No offense meant just wanted to bring a smile on your face.

    Take care

  2. Throw the glasses away drink straight from the bottle!

  3. There is no problem if it is 20/20

You can always get a laser surgery done

And the 20/20 part is only for CPL not PPL!

    PPL is more lenient

    CPL commercial pilots license

    PPL private pilots license

  4. yes

  5. 20/20 is not a requirement as long as you fly with contact lenses (you will need to carry spare eye glass on board) or you can fly with eye glasses. However, military pilots require uncorrected 20/20 vision. Note that you cannot be color blind for both military and commercial aviation. In India, I have seen some pilots flying Boeings with vision glasses.

  6. I'm not sure about on the civilian side, but I know the military will not allow anything less than 20/20 vision, and non color blind.

Military will allow someone with less then 20/20 to fly helicopters.

But, you must have easily correctable vision to be a chopper pilot, as well as some college education and be in good physical condition.

  7. Well, that depends on your sight, and how you intend to go about your training.  If you intend to use the US Military as your training vehicle, then probably not.  The 20/20 screening is one of the first gates to get INTO pilot training, but once through, sure, many military pilots require mild corrective lenses to fly.  If you will go the private method, sure, you can fly with glasses!  You will need to get a vision check when you get your flight physical anyway, and your physical will indicate if you need to wear corrective lenses when flying or not.  If you sight is VERY bad, it could be an issue IF you can't get corrected to 20/20 with glasses.  If you want to be a private pilot only, that goes down to 20/40 with corrective lenses.  See CFR Part 67 and link below for more info.  Good luck.

  8. you can if your glasses correct ur vison to 20/20 or better

    ps i have 20/15

  9. I also desired to become a professional pilot but have bad vision. I researched and it is possible to become a pilot with glasses but it depends on the airline. I know that Lufthansa and some other top airlines require perfect vision and do not allow laser surgery for correction. What you should also ask yourself is whether they would rather choose the individual with perfect vision or the individual with bad vision as the latter may be a "risk". Since I love the aviation industry I am applying to several schools that teach aviation management etc. This may be an option for you if you which to stay in the aviation industry. One of these schools Mankato State University in Minnesota not only teaches you the management aspects but requires you as part of the graduation requirements to complete a private, commercial, and instrument license which will satisfy my desire of becoming a pilot. Another option you could look into is majoring in Professional Flight but taking a minor in management or another area of interest. There are a myriad of careers in the aviation field and it may be best to talk to a counselor at a college or a job adviser to help map out a career path best for you.
