  1. Yes.  The impact of the disability may affect one's upper education and approach as a professional, so in that respect which learning disability may make some difference.  However, individuals with a wide variety of learning disabilities have learned to overcome their personal barriers to become professionals in a wide variety of fields.

  2. I once saw a dyslexic doctor on the learning channel; he said  he was actually grateful for it in a way because it helped him learn patience and how to work as hard as he could.  I honestly think it would be very hard, but it apparently can be done.  Remember that the veterinary techs can help you with the charts, if necessary, and they will be doing most of tat stuff anyway.

  3. it all depends on the person, his dedication and work ethic, and the severity and type of learning disability.  for example, my high school literature teacher is severely dyslexic.  he has dealt with it for many years, and has figured out how to manipulate the letters in his head so they make sense to his eyes and brain.  he has been a teacher for 30 years now.  he taught me 15 years ago, and he's just incredible!

another example...my husband is LD in reading, but he teaches lawyers how to use computers.  he tried very hard to find something that he could excell in, and found it in the hands on training world!

in college, be sure you apply as a student with a disability.  make sure you get every available resource you can.  they can only help!  my husband was able to have someone take carbon notes for him.  the school paid this person to take notes for him (the notes the person was already taking) so that he could concentrate more on the lecture.   there are many other resources out there, so  take advantage of them!

  4. No - if they have a learning disability (UK definition - USA term > Developmental disability) they cannot (i.e. Downs Syndrome or other disorder which causes low IQ)

If they have a Learning Difficulty such as Dyslexia or similar then they can often when they have a difficulty such as this they have a high IQ.  Einstein had dyslexia.

A learning disability is not the same as a learning difficulty.

  5. It depends on what kind of learning disability the person has and how severe it is. Is taking basic courses in college hard for you? If that is the case I wouldn't recommend it. Becoming a vet is kind of difficult because you are basically a doctor for animals so you would have to learn all of the medications, treatments, and diseases. Plus most vets at least do dogs and cats so you would have to learn 2 different species. I would suggest taking some courses in the topic before committing yourself to it to see if you can handle it.

  6. A person with a learning disability can be anything they set their minds on, even a vet. A person with a learning disability can even become a quantum physicist just like Albert Einstein was, whom BTW also had a learning disability himself.

  7. it really depends on what the disablility is, and the severity of it.  I vol. with EC kids in the local public school system which includes kids with mild LD's such a dixlisa (not spelled right) and they can do just about anything and over come it.

You can do anything you set your mind to.  If you feel you can't become a actual VET try for some other job in the Vet's office, to still help pets, our vet has a lady who strictly takes the animals out and plays iwth them comforts them ad loves on them.  Anyone can do that.  Good luck in what every you do
