  1. Why shouldnt they be?!!!

  2. who better ;)

  3. yes under the rules of governance i.e trustee or independent advisor.

  4. no,full stop.

  5. Hiya!

The answer would most definately be YES, unless there is a seperate issue regarding Mental capacity. Check out the mental capacity act (2005) for more info!

  6. There are many high functioning schizophrenics. They are not all unbathed vagrants sitting on the street muttering to themselves. There are many who hold down jobs, and raise families. You wouldn't know they had a disorder.

If the person is capable of acting in the best interest of the child then there should be no problem.

  7. Yes - why not? They have a mental illness, it doesn't mean they are unfit to have responsibilities like everyone else. Don't judge the situation/person, until you know the situation/person inside out.

  8. get legal opinions on that

  9. I suppose you could but there could be problems if the schizophrenia sufferer became ill.

Without being prejudiced I would not ask someone to take on this responsibility if they had this affliction.  Its far too much of a responsibility for them to bear.

If the schizophrenia was mild, and perhaps after a medical doctors signed a letter saying they were competent, then perhaps I would think about it.

  10. You need to speak with a Solicitor bearing in mind the laws in England are different to the Laws in Scotland.

A cautionary note is that your friend may be perfectly well now, and get a Psychiatrist's letter to prove it. But what happens if the time comes when he has to fulfil the Trustees duties and he is ill. What would happen then?

I'm sure a Solicitor could help you in 15 minutes or so.

  11. it all depends if they stick to there meds or not

  12. Hi

And who is going to look after the person with schizophrenia the answer to your question in  my view is no i don't think that they should be trusted with a seven year old as they have problems of there own to solve with out look after someone Else

  13. yes of course. this illness has a terrible stigma but if you research it you will see it isn't what you may think.
