Can a person working for IBEW union eventually work as an Electrical Inspector (EI)

I want to work for IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) as a construction electrician, but later on down the road maybe 6-7 years, i want to become an electrical inspector. Can i work for IBEW as an electrical inspector, or will i have to look for work else where?

  1. I suggest that you can chat with recruiting insiders to know the fact. I also would like to recommend you a networking jobsite--jobirn.com. It is basically a job board while it has functions of social network. You can chat with HR managers or recruiters directly just via the chat box of the site. Moreover, you can conduct video interview if you like. You can even add other members to "My Contacts" list and establish your social network for career.

      


  2. Ask the union, but you will probably have to take a job with a company though, you might have to just pay dues out of pocket or something to keep you ticket.  

  3. The answer is yes.   The las t two electrical inspectors for the city of Mattoon, Il and the last two inspectors for the city of Decatur, IL are former IBEW members.  All are members of IBEW 146
