Can a person working for IBEW union eventually work as an Electrical Inspector (EI)

Question

I want to work for IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) as a construction electrician, but later on down the road maybe 6-7 years, i want to become an electrical inspector. Can i work for IBEW as an electrical inspector, or will i have to look for work else where?

Ask the union, but you will probably have to take a job with a company though, you might have to just pay dues out of pocket or something to keep you ticket.

The answer is yes.   The las t two electrical inspectors for the city of Mattoon, Il and the last two inspectors for the city of Decatur, IL are former IBEW members.  All are members of IBEW 146
