Hello, I am from peru and i have a permanent resident card from the usa. The thing is that the usa permanent card has expired in July 26 2008 but the uscis(inmigration from the usa) has sent me an i-751 letter where it says that i can travel for up to a year. Do i need a visa, Can i still go to Costa Rica without problems? Help please.

  1. If you have a Peruvian passport, you need a VISA. If you want further clarification, try e-mailing the Costa Rican consulate in Peru at costarica@terra.com.pe

  2. If you have a Peruvian passport, then you can get a "consular visa" and travel to Costa Rica with the Peruvian passport.  If the green card is expired, then that could be a problem, because the I-751 letter is for American purposes, but it would have no validity in Costa Rica.

I would say contact the US Consulate in Peru and ask (if you don't hold a passport from Peru).
