    it just conducts current wen a light is sensed..it has got nothin to do with light emittin!!!


  2. There are several types of photodiode, for example the most common LED emits light, there are several photodiodes that are infrared ones, you can see the light emitted by those with a cellphone camera

    Don't get confused by LED, light emitting diode, which is totally different.

    A photodiode is used to detect light, and emit current when it sees light.
