  1. Structurally, plants control the amount of water it loses by regulating the opening and closing of the stomates underneath the leaves.

    Adaption-wise, plants have small leaves in order to limit transpiration rate due to low surface area. Leaves that are coated with the waxy cutin are also showing an adaptation that helps control water loss.
