Can a player taking a quick line out throw the ball back into play to themself?

Yeah? I thought I have seen fullbacks do it when there was noone around to get the ball back into play quickly, to then kick for touch to gain ground advantage....

  1. Yes, as long as it goes at least 5 meters straight along or behing the line of touch (the imaginary straight line going across the pitch where the ball went out).


  2. As long as they throw the ball at least 5 metres in, basically straight and anywhere behind the point that the ball went out then yeah. Craeful for lurking payers though!

  3. Yes, I did it before, it just has to go 5 meters.

  4. Yeah they can aslong as the ball goes atleast 5 meters but if there are atleast 2 players in the lineout a quick one cannot be took

  5. yes they can, thats why flankers always chase kicks even after they have gone out....but they have to throw it in straight,
