  1. The answer is yes, it can happen in theory. The best example is Rick Sutcliffe winning the Cy Young after being traded to the cubs mid year (but not the deadline). However, there are certain minimums usually required to qualify for things like batting titles (like minimum AB) but not sure if it affects MVP. However, the non waiver trade deadline is at the end of July which gives you only 2 months to play and it's unlikely any players stats over 2 months would be better than the 2nd best player's stats over 6 months.

  2. They could but it would be very difficult.  After the trade deadline there's only about 60 games left.  I don't think they'd be able to hit 30 HR with 90 RBI's in 60 games.

In 1997 Mark McGwire got traded on July 31.  He hit 24 HR for the Cardinals after the trade and ended up in 16th place in the NL MVP voting.

In 1998 Randy Johnson got traded on July 31.  He went 10-1 for the Astros after the traded and ended up in 21st place in the NL MVP and 7th in the NL Cy Young voting.

In 1984 Rick Sutcliffe got traded from the Indians to the Cubs before the deadline on June 13.  He went 16-1 for the Cubs and finished 4th in the MVP voting and won the Cy Young Award in the NL.

  3. yeah

  4. I think it is possible.  I remember in the early 1990's Willie McGee won the NL batting title, but was traded to the A's at the deadline.  He still had enough NL AB's to count.

  5. yes!!!

  6. yes

  7. In subjective categories anything can happen.  It wouldn't seem right that such a thing happened unlews it was quite clear that the team's fortunes turned when and because the player was there.  Maybe then you could make a case.

  8. The answer to your question is: The X man is the most underated player in the game.  All he does is produce but gets no respect.  After the yankees fail to make the playoffs this year h**l go elsewhere next year.  I just hope he goes to a decent team and gets a good contract because he sure deserves it

  9. why not?

  10. I guess but doubt it. it's like staring a new tear different statistics are hold.

  11. ya then they would just win the win it for the opposite league

  12. Why would you trade someone who is having an MVP season? Assuming the player would be going to a team who would be making the playoffs, of course. It is your full season that is evaluated, just like all player have a 1st half & 2nd hald evaluation. It would be d**n impresive for a player to change leagues & still dominate like nothing has changed. Remember they gotta learn all new players, pitchers, cities everything it aint easy.

Who you got in mind for this?
