No, I'm not a badge bunny.

I'm happily married.

I'm doing research on a fictional story I'm writing.

If an officer was called for a break and enter,

could he date the victim

(if the victim asked him out)?

If he couldn't immediately,

is there a 'waiting period'

after which it would be okay?

  1. Yes he or she could, as long as there is no conflict of interest.  A conflict could arise if an officer pursued the matter in a manner inconsistent with good police policy because of a special interest in the victim.

  2. It happens all the time depending on how good looking the victim is.  hey, victims need love too!

  3. I would think that would be okay after the officer's involvement in the victim's case had ended.  You might want to talk to your local police dept and try to set up a ride along.  It could be good research for your story.

  4. I would imagine that an officer wouldnt date someone while a case was going on, but may pursue the person afterward. I guess it would really depend on the department, if they had certain rules about dating people that you have cases on. However, if it's a fictional story, he or she can do whatever he or she wants to, right?

  5. I've been been in the business for over 30 years and when I was single, I dated more than one female I met through my job.

  6. Not a good idea. Let some time elapse.

  7. Maybe i don't know that's a good question.

  8. Yes.

In fact, most women who date officers are thought of as victims.
