can a police officer lie to a suspect to get information out of the suspect?

can a officer can lie to a minor who is a suspect to get info out of the minor suspect? (14 years of age)

  1. yup...they commonly say things like "your accomplice admitted that he did it, so how did it happen"...and then they hope you'll say how it happened and thus admit to doing it.  even though/if your accomplice didn't say anything.

    it's really dumb, which is why you gotta just hold your ground and keep your story the same.

  5. Yes, it has been upheld by several courts.  Many times it is how many major crimes get solved.  Besides, what do you think undercover work is?  It is basically lying about who you are.
