Can a police officer see how many times your license has been "run"?

Like if I get caught up in a group and they run everyone's IDs just to make sure that we don't have any warrants and I am clear and am free to leave. Then one month later, a cop runs my license again. Is that second cop able to see that my license was "run" or "checked" the first time? Thanks.

  1. No. Not based on the license check. Some departments do contact cards and index them, but it's unlikely they'd check from the field.

  2. Yes, whenever an individual is cleared through NCIC it is logged.

I can run an inquiry (QQ) which lists the officer, dept, date and time that an individual was cleared. Most of the time there is no reason for me to bother to check who ran a particular person I'm dealing with, but sometimes there is.

Sometimes I'll get a call from another agency  asking me why I ran a particular person on a certain date...

  3. Yes.  A license or license plate when run by police is logged.  Those logs are kept for 30 days.  A police officer/dispatcher can see how many times a person or plate has been run in 30 days.  After 30 days it will not appear.

Additionally, law enforcement can attach messages to your license and or plate showing prior contact.  Those messages are used in cases of contacts with s*x offenders, gang members, etc.
