Can a potential employer ask your medical insurance company for your records.?

i know that potential employers can request your medical records but can the also ask for the records from your insurance company.

I am under the impression they CANNOT request your medical records.  Not from you, and not from the insurance company.

Yes, but only with your writen permission.

I've been working for 27 yrs - never had any company ask anything medically - I don't think they are allowed to - privacy laws, discrimination laws, etc
